Psychology defines fantasy as a vehicle to understanding our desires, motivation, beliefs, attitudes, impulses and, above all else, our wishes. Fantasy is also described to a be the loss of reality as well as the impetus to all scientific discovery.
My current paintings are a part of a larger series based on a fairy tale. Legend of the Bird Queen. This series explores the world of fantasy and reality through the life of one girl. It is my love letter to my oldest daughter who has lived with schizophrenia for more than twenty-five years.
The body of work is meant to be viewed through many paradigms. It is a reflection of our world with Covid and other’s trials and tribulations. The work can be viewed as a whole or each pieces independently filled allegory.
